Celtic Fiddle Festival regroups with new musicians

"Sept. 23--The last time the Celtic Fiddle Festival played Tulsa was one of the last times the original trio performed together.

Johnny Cunningham, a former leader of the legendary Scottish band Silly Wizard, died in December 2003. The remaining players -- Kevin Burke from Ireland and Brittany native Christian Lemaitre -- decided to continue the group, which had formed in 1992 as a side project from their work with other ensembles.

The newest member is Andre Brunet from Quebec, Canada. Brunet, who also plays with the French-Canadian band La Bottine Souriante, performs a unique blend of folk music originating from France, England, Ireland and Scotland, imbued over time with a color and rhythm particular to various regions of Quebec."
